On Memorial Day 2015, the OVMF and the Reverend John Andrew Chapter hosted a celebration for the completion of the NSDAR Special Project Grant.  The eagle sculpture, Freedom, now stands proudly above the Killed in Action Memorial Garden and is flanked on both sides by the Wall of Honor featuring the names of Oconee County Veterans.   The event included a concert of patriotic music, presentation of the colors by the Athens’s SAR chapter, presentation of over 30 wreaths, and several moving speeches.  The Georgia State Regent, Bea Fischer, introduced Mindy Tidmore Kammeyer NSDAR Reporter General.  Ms. Kammeyer worked military airlift flights to Vietnam, making her speech ideal for the 50 of Vietnam. Memorial Vietnam pins were given to numerous Vietnam veterans.  A beautiful reception followed the ceremony.
