Patriots
The DAR recognizes
all men and women who advanced the American cause during the years of the
Revolution – 1776- 1783. Many patriots served via military positions;
however, thousands of citizens also assisted their colony in civil offices and
by the provision of supplies to the troops. Through membership, we honor
our ancestors who sacrificed their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred

The DAR continues to
recognize new patriots through the processing of membership applications.
For a full list of DAR recognized patriots, please consult either the NSDAR
Patriot Index Millenium Edition, available at your local library, or
the online Patriot Index Lookup Service, available at www.dar.org. Please be sure to use the latest edition of the
“Patriot Index”, as this volume is revised at least once a decade, as new
information is acquired. It is possible
that patriots listed in former editions have since been discovered to have
insufficient or erroneous information previously entered. The newest edition is the ONLY reference that
can be used for membership purposes. All
questions regarding membership should be routed through the local chapter so
that we may assist you in acquiring accurate and complete documentation needed
for the successful completion of your application.
